Thanks All
I appreciate the comments.  I think it is better to engage conversation where one has a influence and may be able to change things.  With Johnny and the school related issue, there are ways to make changes, yet engaging in argumentative conversations with family and friends that lead to no change, I feel it is not productive.  Some people cannot engage in conversations without anger.  With judgment, we can tell who is capable and who is not.

..those two subjects are bringing us closer and closer to the legendary
Armmagedon everyday.... and today is 6/6/6... we shall see what happens....

Sophisti
I do not believe discussions of these subjects have to be arguments. I do believe things can and have been changed by people who were determined to continue to buck city hall. I believe judgment is a necessary thing. Tolerance is over rated. Do we allow little Johnny to think 2+2=5 until he is out of high school because we do not want to warp his personality by teaching him wrong from right through assessment or judgment. He can't read, write or add because we wanted him to have confidence which with five dollars will get him a cup of gourmet coffee. If you don't make a judgment about where you stand or are walking, in my town from any direction you could walk into the lake and never be seen again. It is ridiculous not to think we can change the things that are bad for us.

Sophistie, I have found that one can discuss these things if a non-judgmental attitude is presented and if, as you say, one knows when to move on to other things.

I can generally control myself, yet it is often the other person who gets irate.  I will add to some and express views, yet with caution!  Thanks for comment!

I can generally discuss either
Religion is one that I am very open minded about as long as nobody is shoving it down my throat.  As for politics I am less one sided than many will think UNTIL it comes to the troops.  I take exception to those who bash everything and everyone under the sun and claim it's to help the troops without ever speaking to those troops.
