kooka_lives - there are some concepts of God that do not fall into the
category of some maniacal, crazed, ego driven psychotic. A good example is Awonwinlona, the creator of all, according to the native mythology of the peoples inhabiting the southwestern regions of the USA. The concept of this supreme creator being is devoid of man upon man vengeance and all other such horrifically violent stories. The beliefs of these people had them giving thanks to Awonwinlona any time that they took something from the earth. They would thank this deity when a rabbit was killed for a meal for example. There are many such examples of deities that are purely benevolent but such are rarely found in the constructs of God as found in organized religion. In these cases, as a means of expanding and growing the religion itself, man had to be controlled by the fear of this godly construct. The primary difference between the two types of god concepts is that the god of organized religion is used as a means of justification for actions perpetrated by man against man. In the more benigh concepts of God, where no religious infrastructure has been corrupted as a tool to serve man, there is indeed a concept worthy of, if not worship, at least some admiration.
