It probably isn't 'worth' the effort, but does it matter? Can you stop?

I like to pile magazines around my house and plan to read them "later."
I learned it from my mother. I am, however,
reading a book at the moment. Well, not
this moment, but in a few....

Agreed. It always comes back to that.

But being safe and anonymous, it is a little addictive.

Concentrating on writing can be difficult at times. How it is written greatly increases the chances of being able to focus and comprehend it.

Hi, Azur,
Welcome back, and I hope you're feeling much better. I hope you enjoyed your short break from blogging.
What a philosophical question... Of course, my answer would be similar to others below, i.e., I write because I love it, and if one person reads it, then it's worth my while; but I suppose some others may feel differently about it, depending on their real reasons for writing. When writing feels like a chore, then it's probably not worth the effort for some to put their thoughts on paper, because it's such a struggle. I know that I'm blessed that words tend to come easily to me, so putting my thoughts down is hardly ever a problem. For me, it really is a labor of love. I just hope others enjoy reading it as much as I enjoy writing it. I agree with una01, this is probably the shortest post I've ever read here, but it's so thought-provoking. You should win a prize for this! Anyway, thanks. Have a good day, and continue to take good care of yourself. :)

Once I stopped taking myself and my writing/blogging/whatever we call what we do here seriously, I stopped caring about who reads what and why. Does everyone read my work? No where close, but as long as one person does, it's all worthwhile.

Julia, that's a thorough answer to a short question
and I would have to say that I agree with you. It's a question that comes up when trying to mix writing with blogging. It is often better to keep the two separate

If you're talking about blogging (loosely called writing by some)
then I'd answer the two questions thusly: 1) Sometimes I think not and 2) Probably not many.
Now if the first question pertains to non-blogging, of course it is, but many writers write because to NOT write is unthinkable. Like breathing.
Nice to see you back, hope you are okay.

I love to read, sometimes I start reading the smallprint on contracts and agreements before signing them, all because I love reading so much.
