Mysteria, I've often thought I'd like to fly in a figher jet, too!

i love the thrill of speed, but when it is controlled like on a roller-coaster or other thrill ride, i like it better cause i can relax in knowing that they are very safe... i like to imagine flying in one of those high end air force fighters, at the speed of sound doing barrel rolls...weeeeeeeeeeee!!!!!! love mysteria

I meant, James Dean, not the sausage king, Jimmy Dean!

Kingmi, I don't think Hunter S. Thompson left either of those!
He certainly lived fast, but I don't think he was looking too good at even a relatively young age.  Now, Jimmy Dean, there's another story!

Nysteria, HSThompson certainly embodied the refrain of the 60's live in the
fast lane, die young and leave a pretty corpse.  I said no then, and I say no now.  Good post.

Gee, what a role model, Mysteria,
"self-absorbed, depression-ridden, tortured egomaniac,"  Although, still, speed is a thrill!

Being a self-absorbed, depression-ridden, tortured egomaniac, I think of the quote in a mostly self-centered regard.  I apply it metaphorically toward the advancement of my most highest self.  I know you do too.

Mysteria, I like quotes but I always consider the source
Hunter S. Thompson supposedly a spent a lot of his time inhaling ether on the carpet of his Las Vegas hotel suite and driving suicidally fast with his sidekick.  He ended up being fatally shot by his son.  He was a genius political analyst and kickass contributor to Rolling Stone, but I'm not sure I would want to emulate him.
