Go to Religion in the Modern World

Talion - none of that matters
the only thing that matters in life is an individual's ability to deal with and prosper within their own environment and the level of self defined success that they derive from doing so. Each and every person is an individual with individual talents and shortcomings. At this stage in life, I find great humour in my own shortcomings, quite often laughing at some of the things I am unable to do.

strat - same here
When the companies came hiring in our graduation year, I couldn't help but feel that I was kept as far away from the recruiters as possible.

JasonScyte - that's exactly how I feel about it
I've never flaunted it to belittle anyone but more because I was incredibly proud of it and feel extremely lucky that I didn't blow it.

Ah, academic achievement...There's the dean's list, of course.
I, of course, was on the dean's other list...

Am I a member of Mensa? Nope. Could I get in? Probably not. Ask me any math question beyond simple addition and subtraction and my mind freezes like a computer with a virus. Hell, I didn't finish college. Does this make me stupid? Some may think so, but I really don't care too much about the opinions of strangers. Clubs, organizations, college and professional degrees and such can make a person more interesting, but they won't make me like them more or make me feel inferior.

I'm no MENSA,
but I love to flaunt my university--not because of my 2.17 grade point average, but because getting a diploma from there was some kind of miracle for me, plus we just happen to be the greatest basketball school in the world. Can you guess. If you say Duke, I will blog you to death.

TVBlogger -- isn't that the truth
The re-affirmation of others, or consensus building is easily the biggest strength of any message that is based on intangibles. The more people that believe something to be true, the "truer" it becomes.

Lucky you...
that your test pointed you in a direction... I've taken several tests that simply tell me I can do whatever I choose. Lots of help that was.
And as for your ongoing battle... have you ever noticed that people don't scream about the things they are certain of? For instance, when's the last time someone tried to convince others that the sun would rise in the morning? Or went door to door to tell people that the sky is blue? People only run around shouting, screaming and trying to convince others of things they aren't very sure about themselves. If more people believe it, they feel better because maybe they're right.
When you've found what you believe to be true, you simply live it. Anyone else, I don't bother with.

Xeno-x - it's an extremely immature mindset
and as you say, those that are extremely intelligent have no need to trot out their credentials to solidify their contentions. The truly intelligent will let their contentions stand on their own merit.

mysteria - the amazing part is the conflict between the message they are
selling, in a belief in a supreme being, and the lies they tell to make their point. Like can't this supreme being figure out that they are lying?

blackcat30 - I'm probably going to delete all of this nonsense
but for the time being
HERE is a link to the conversation. Another aspect of this site (and possibly fuel for one of your future blogs) is that upon occassion, one must be prepared to defend themselves, as well as knowing how and when to do this.

people who have to
build themselves up for no good reason
or for the wrong reasons
its not that they have something to hide
its that they could be hiding something else.
or to portray themselves as correct and "in the light" so to speak --
the true genius nevers lets on.
doesn't need to "wear their genius on their sleeves".

I didn't see these comments... but I'm with you. I've never posted my
resume, and I hope to never feel that I have to.
