But even this discussion is out of context on it's own. I had written the post in a response to what I thought was a sincere enquiry as to how I arrived at my perspectives. I should have known better but I followed through and posted some of the influencing factors throughout my life. There was no discussion about this post for about 5 days, when in the interum he had commented on another post with mindless gibberish that brought me to the point of asking him not to come back to my postings. My patience with simplistic interpretations of the bible had been exhausted. Then this dialogue took place
HERE. it was over for me when this dialogue took place, anything I do now, I do for clicks.

FranklyMydear1 - I agree and I think that even though a minority government
is in most cases disfunctional, we should be grateful that this governement does not have more power that it does.
As you say, we don't know what they are up to but at least the checks and balances of a majority opposition are in place. We can be grateful as well that the promises made to the religous folks were for the most part just election promises which are already forgotten.

yes, they are running the government and it's not as scary as once thought
....but how do we really know? The press has been blocked and the PMO is quietly taking us further and further right...at least that's what I assume, because we don;t really know; this government operates with a muzzle on its members and a fire wall around themselves, keeping citizens and media shut out...it's not how a democracy runs...the NDP were neoconned by the PC's leading up to and during the election ....and now we have a weird and intolerant government to contend with...

FranklyMydear1 -- I'm almost in agreement about our Conservatives but
now that they are running the government, I find myself relieved that they aren't near as bad as I feared they would be when they got elected. It got scary during the election campaign, all of a sudden the Christian right had a voice in Canada and was preparing to take us back a few decades in time as they are trying to do in other parts of the world.
There is a lot to be proud of in being a Canadian, especially our positioning in world markets and the way we have constructed our society. We have to keep reminding ourselves however that many places in the world do not have it as good as we do.

didn't realize you were in Canada....
....yes, the spooks'o the west are in the driver's seat in our country, slinging and slidin' their own brand of self righteous claptrap and praise be to god and country...I liked being a secularist society; made me feel superior somehow, when our values were compared to the values of the US...we allowed gays to marry, pot was nearly legalized, our juctice system is one of correction, not punishement, universal healthcare, better education system..on and on...then these wing nuts come out of no where and form a minority government and all they want to do is adopt values similar to those of the US? I want to know what 29% decided to give these morons a shot...OK OK....off topic here and yes, some changes needed to be made, but please, everyone pray hard to your gods that these schmucks NEVER form a majority fed, thereby creating a self righteous and very very dangerous alliance in north america....because, with Canada in the hip pocket of the US, the US will get away with a hell of a lot more in the world...like perpetuating the arms race all over again, killing for oil, etc etc...we all know the routine...

strat - everyone deserves some slack
I have all of the patience in the world with those of less mental accuity than myself, after all I am extended this same courtesy by those of superior intellect, but I don't have an extra minute for those who pull this stunt. I have better ways to waste my time than to listen to someone tell whoppers about how smart they are while they prosletize a moronic take on a very tired message.

FranklyMydear1 - your comment encapsulates the things I say under my breath
The recent vocalism of the Christian right in North America (we have our bible thumping loonies in Canada as well) really is a paradox. Two of the most well educated societies in the world having a revival of ancient superstitions is a unique occurance.

DarrkeThoughts - it doesn't bother me much when I am blocked
If you can imagine, I am the Blogit being blocked record holder. However, not once have I been blocked for my behaviour or the nature of my comments to others but in every instance entirely for the content of my blog. This usually occurs right after some self described holy person leaves a rude comment on my posting and/or writes an insulting post about me (they never seem able to refute my contentions), quite often skirting the site user rules and in most cases being downright childish. I only block people when they become a nuisance or they indicate a concern for what they are capable of.

I've been watching this exchange.
I certainly can't blame you for that. In fact, you should be commended for your patience.

I've not been reading you much...
....but damn sure liked the title of the blog....what gets my blood boiling is the rabid self righteousness of the whole baptist ultra right wing mentality that's so prevalent in the US...who the hell ever told them they were the chosen? ignorance truly is bliss...I guess the world is supposed to forget about Islam and Budha and all the other older, mroe gentler kinder "religions" of the world...dogma taken at face value is a dangerous thing...just ask the Muslims in North Africa and Asia who are bent (wrongly, albeit understandably) on making the crusades come alive again...all because of this moronic attitude of church/state incestuousness going on in the US now....that kind of marriage makes the US no better than the crazy wild eyed zealots who blow themselves up on their way to mecca....what a bloody bunch of horseshit it all is..... religion in the hands of the ignorant and lame....
