I do agree that what is in the Bible is nothing more than man made laws. Part of the big problem is that so many people do not believe this to be the case.
Of course with that said, just what is God then? Sounds to me like you dislike the Biblical idea of God.

The whole debate over which day is the actual Sabbath has always seemed waste of time to me. I would figure it is whatever you pick for your seventh day. But if you are going to have a Sabbath (Saturday or Sunday) and claim that you follow God's laws, then you should stay home and do next to nothing. God punished people who cooked or gathered food on the Sabbath in the Bible.

problem is christians
don't really look at these in a true legalistic sense; i.e., as a lawyer would look at it.
they also read into this what they want to.
yeah I get your point.
but you have to remember that the thing says "thou shalt have no gods BEFORE me."
a little different there.
the commandment itself recognizes other gods. It warns having gods BEFORE -- or above YHVH. It would seem that they can be equal, just not above YHVH.
they can be there -- on all levels except above YHVH.
but monotheism reads this differently.

kooka_lives - we've seen a number of people on this site claim that they
live by God's laws first and foremost, while ignoring man's laws.
It's funny when you think about it. As you point out, there is not a person on this planet that lives in strick accordance with the bible though there are many that claim they do. Anyone claiming that they do in fact live in accordance with God's laws as supposedly found in the bible, invariably have chosen to adhere to only those passages that are convenient for them.

GOD'S LAW
God's Law and the Law's stated in the Bible are NOT synonomous! MAN'S Laws are written in the Bible.
GOD'S Law's are to be found only in Nature, for example, the law of Cause and Effect.
Nature's Laws do not ever contradict themselves! Any "Law" which ever does contradict itself is not a Law at all; it is only mistakenly PERCEIVED to be!

LOL...you're a tough one to please, aren't you? The sabbath is Satuday...so go ahead and go to church on Sunday, but watch out for all that other stuff: mowing the lawn, grocery shopping, etc. the day before.
And remember not to covet the neighbor's ride-on-lawn mower.
