First THANK YOU For your service. Please don't take my post in the wrong way, I thought your post with the poem was wonderful and I greatly appreciated it.
Unfortunately, I take certain things very personally, and Memorial Day is one of them. Your only goal was to honor those who have and are serving. You did that wonderfully. Then someone had to come along and turn it into a political agenda and that bothered me greatly. Memorial Day to me and what you posted should not have been about politics, it should have been simply about those you were honoring.
Just my .02

Sorry to hear that you were irritated by someone, especially when it deals with our service members. Some people don't understand the concept that freedom has a price, and others just tend to express their feelings and thoughts in insensitive and sometimes ignorant ways. I also plan to look for
Ukie's post. I'm intrigued by your post and what seems to have stirred some strong emotions. Thanks. :)

You're so right...And I do understand a little of what he's going thru.
Each year when I return from hurricane season and put away my equipment, it makes me very sad. Though I'm thankful to be home again, my heart is still there in the work, the cities, the stories I've heard.
It's hard to explain to those who haven't been there.

Thanks so much. This is such a tense subject for me and watching Carl deal with alot of this since he has been home makes it that much more distressing to me. He is proud of his service and proud to wear his uniform. I think the hardest day for him since he came home was to put away his DCU's (sand colored uniform) and take out the BDU's (green). He see's the DCU's as something he earned versus something that was simply issued to him. He takes such pride in that and it kills me that others just don't understand he has NO REGRETS!
