Thank you for the info, I am just trying to rent and the things that count to me arent always the things that they look at, its a shame when someone has had a bad time with credit it follows them every where.  My mistake to have bought the cars but I wasnt thinking how it would affect me down the line.  They can see I am not going to bale out as I havent done so in 20 years, why would I now?

Good question

But the question is, how many companies did you deal with in trying to buy the cars or refinance the house? Each company will sometimes put through several credit inquiries and they will all show up on your credit report. Items that may have been written off can include old, old, debts from hospital bills, library debts, utility debts, etc.. Or you might be the victim of identity theft. Take a look at your credit report and get one yourself. There are three credit agencies: Equifax, experian, and Trans Union. These are the three that control your life, everyone's life. You are entitled to a free credit report once a year.

Keep in mind the average score across the country is 675 and this is not great! The best you can hope for is 850 (depending which agency is reporting). Please also know that you can write to the respective agencies and have items removed after a certain amount of years. Usually 7 to 11 years or if the debt has been paid and is still showing up you can write the company to request a letter stating that the debt is paid and then forward this to the respective agency.

It is time consuming, but it can be done and it raises your score sometimes 25 to 100 points. But everytime you apply for a credit card they do a credit inquiry. This shows up on your credit.

Good luck! I hope you find out what the problem is.
