That is excellent advice. We haven't gotten it fixed yet and the poor thing had to redo the whole project. I have told her though...next time email-even if it isn't complete!

Hope all went well with the report. I know how stressful that can be.
Encourage her to email her stuff to herself or you from now on so that you don't have these problems in future. I don't have a floppy myself and that's what I do to ensure things I treasure or need are saved somewhere in cyberspace.

thanks....it sounds as though I can retrieve the info as long as i can get a start up disc and drive to start the computer then.....on a mission to find them now. thanks again.

You might try adding a cd drive (borrow one from a friend, maybe) and use
a start up cd. Don't load it, just use it to start the computer. Then, after you get your stuff printed take the computer in to check out the hard drive.
