Yes we have had some scary thunderstorms
also. My son hates thunder and was crying at school because one shook the whole school. I had to go pick him up because they couldn't calm him down. Poor guy I can just see the kids teasing him now, great.

I have to shut down for storms, too
I REALLY hate that. The phone lines here are iron, underground, and old, I'm told, and I've lost 2 modems, 3 or 4 phones and probably 3 answering machines. When it storms here now, we disconnect everything.
The last answering machine that we lost was literally fried. The power cord was cooked in half.
Better safe than sorry!
