I dig that!
I believe that African American or Black is proper but I personally identify with my African roots and adamant about the origin of the existence of African Americans. When did Andy Rooney make these comments?

I've never been color blind...
and I see amazing shades and colors in all manner of humans. To me it's a political issue: fair or not, having "white" skin means I live in a different America than my friends of color. I don't like it. Now that more and more of us have grandchildren of mixed race, I'm hoping that in another 50 years racial adjectives will become part of a dead language.

What makes it worse is that people in India are classified as caucasian by certain anthropologists and a lot of them are darker than many of us.

The hypocrisy is amazing. What is Negro? Black in Spanish. All this talk about a colorblind society and yet there's still the need to identify us solely by our color. We're the only people on the planet defined by how we look.

I usually refer to my self as black, and African-American is acceptable.
I think the older designations need to stay in the past.

And Andy Rooney's usually such a progressive thinker, too!
So, what term do you prefer? Everyone I know wants to be called black. Even some of the white kids.
"Total poser."
