depends
its the label attached
the practice has no inherent evil
the evil is in the intent of the practitioner.
hey NOPEACE
Jesus said
"he who is not against me is for me."
if it is not against the best of existence
then it certainly is not against it
nor is god against it.

NOPEACE
So anything you do that is not about 'leaning' on God is bad then?  How sad and pathetic.  You are nothing if you are strong enough to not need to rely on God to make you feel good.

I am sorry, but that is about the worst reasoning I could imagine for such a belief.

Witchcraft
Witchcraft is bad because you are not leaning on God for your needs.  You are serving your lust through witchcraft.

Comment on witchcraft

Witchcraft is the performance of magic and miracles without the permission of the orthodox church. If the "blessing" of the curch is obtained first, then the person committing the acts is likely to eventually by beautified as a saint, without the prior permission of the church the person committing the act is subject to all manner of hostility, and of course used to find themselves the guest of honor at the bonfire barbecue.

True witchcraft requires a concerted effort over time to learn and understand, it involves the gathering of knowledge and experience. This is what most offends the orthodox community, the fact that someone may have more knowledge into the functionings of the earth and the heavens than they have. Knowledge is power, it always has been. The orthodox community rather enjoys being the big dog, and they fear that should the masses come to realize they don't need the church in order to commune with God, and that the powers held by Jesus, Moses, Isis and so many others, can be had by the common man or woman if he/she makes the effort to learn them, such knowledge would put the church out of business, and quite frankly they don't relish the idea of actually having to work for a living.

I bid you peace and understanding. Arley White

kooka_lives -- the intent of organized religion to depict witchcraft and

sorcery as evils and incorporate them into their overall sell job cannot be overlooked.

Their good spells of prayers to an invisible being, will take on the bad spells of witchcraft and sorcery, and if your faith is strong enough, you need never fear the bad spells. This kind of archaic superstition played well to a populace that believed every word of it. The scary part comes in when we still have people buying it (and selling it) today. This is another hangover of regressive thought that we can thank the believing majority for. Over the years, the incantations of witchcraft and sorcery lost the public relations battle to the powers of prayer, but all are just words to invisible, non existent beings. Both are completely ineffectual until a person allows these concepts to affect them by believing such nonsense.
