Aaron, I think it's simply because the number has such a nice ring to it.
It's just so
even.

Be afraid
It's interesting to me that the Bible Code isn't the only thing that predicts something gigantic happening in 2012. The Mayan calendar comes to an abrupt end in Dec. of 2012 (I think on the 21st, but can't remember the day for sure), and I believe some astrologers/psychics have also predicted something happening in that year.
I don't have much confidence in any of those sources individually, but put them together and I am curious to see what will happen.

I am not, personally, reading from any of them, Mason ...
However, the Bible codes are derived directly from the Torah.

I am Intrigued and Await the Post!
Thanks for commenting on mine. I wrote later that Children's Day is celebrated in June which may be as close to Daughter's Day as I know. I am not sure whetther it is celebrated in all communities.

There was one translation form Nostrademus' Prophecies that suggested the end was coming around 2062?

From which translation or re-write are you reading from?
..there's been at least 13 different versions since the 13th century alone.. and then there's the lastest Book of Judas that recently came out... and they're ALL the ABSOLUTE word of God!

Yes, Whacky ... it's definitely going to be a comet.
I, personally, was hoping for the Earth to be swallowed by the Sun, myself.

Sorry, Mason,
the Bible specifically says (sort of):
"COMET" + "ANNIHILATE THE EARTH" + "2012"
Then, in another part, the code reads:
"COMET" + "IT SHALL CRUMBLE TO PIECES" + "2012"

Not yet, Ben ...
In fact, I've only had one encounter in my entire life. An encounter which, I've been told, made for (quite possibly) the single worst ghost story ever.
