conscious entity
hmmmm
yeah i am one.
better not trust me with building a universe though

also depends upon what consciousness (god) is

god is formed in human image -- so is his consciousness

but take a body -- there is consciousness in a body apart from the brain.

then the Universe -- or The Whole Thing -- maybe that's a better term don't you think?

The Whole Thing

think so?

it has a consciousness.

the entire process from time immemorial -- before the Big Bang, before the Singularity -- through all the events that have transpired since -- and beyond -- throughout the infinity of time and space  -- beyond now and way behond the future

these are part of The Consciousness.

and we are part of it.

not a conscious creating as in imagining, designing and planning and then building , which does limit god.

so I am sitting here at the computer being god.

gomedome, I'm tempted to take the easy way out and simply declare, "Amen!" to your last paragraph or do some vicious thumping, but neither is my favorite way of responding to one who has weighed their thoughts and presented them in such a reasonable manner. So, I would just like to share with you my thoughts on the subject. You are right in many things that you presented.

Yes, it is true that barriers are sometimes unwittingly constructed by those who believe, by indoctrination with a predetermined set of beliefs, by organized religion. These all present with their own deficiencies and fallibilities that can and do lead to shackles of the mind. These were never meant to be all in all, but only an aid in starting an individual out on the right pathway. Each person eventually reaches that point where he must be willing to lay aside the shackles caused by others, that hold him back, and choose his own shackles.

You see, no one in this life is free of shackles. One chooses either the shackles of his own making forged from resistance, rebellion, arrogance, and rejection, or one chooses to take on the shackles of the Christ, The Son of The Living God. His shackles are easy, light, even joyful and to be desired. For one to be shackled to the Light of God is to have a totally new and different understanding of the word shackled.

Xeno-x - there is not doubt about that
We all accept what we are told by adults when we are very young, at least initially. I remember believing that the Earth was 6,000 years old simply because the nuns told me that this was true. Everyone goes through an evolution of belief in their lives, forced upon them by if nothing else, maturity alone.

FactorFiction - that is a better explanation than the notion of infinity

What if it wasn't a conscious entity when it created itself
but became a conscious entity somewhere along the way? You know, a sort of divine evolution...

people are taught
then they believe

people question
then they believe differently.
