Ariel70,
Thanks for stopping by! But I am sure you are aware that they stopped counting the Iraqi dead long time ago! Our humanity is not measured in just the American dead!

" In my lifetime" Yes, well, it remains to be seen if the total casualties of the Iraq war equal those of those of the Korean War, Vietnam and the Iran-Iraq war. Or even those of the many genocidal African mini-wars, such as Rwanda, Darfur, Algeria et al.

Ariel70,
I stand corrected! But I do believe that in some circles WWII was given the same "moniker"! Trench warfare is very limited in area contested! And it would be considerd "tame" in scope to the magnitude of the "global reach" American imperialism! The numbers of dead and the carnage in Iraq has long surpassed all the other conflicts in my lifetime! When the "real" story is told, Iraq will prove to be the most brutal display of inhumanity in modern times!

I read your posts often. But,out of a slight knowledge of current American foreign and domestic affairs, I do not usually feel sufficiently qualified to comment on them.

However I must take minor issue with you on one point : the " War To End All War" was the name given to WW1, and it would be fatuous to suggest that this war, horrible as it was, was worse than WW11. And only the mass infantry attacks against entrenched positions of the Iran-Iraq war came close to mimicing WW1.
