"Dribble," Glenn?

This was a slam dunk! Your ball, pal.

Frankly, your reaction to Foxnews is roughly mine to the other outlets (and Fox as well many times, for that matter!) Thank you for reading and sharing your thoughts, and for your wishes for our success.

FW, you sort of hit it. Yes, odd as it sounds, the Bush administration bought into this. Shock and Awe was indeed effective, and that kind of forcefulness against the enemy should have continued. And, no, I don't blame the American public in general, just that which captured the ear of the powers in Washington to the exclusion of the rest of us who do support a strong military and decisive victory. Thanks for reading!

Xenox, thanks for raising the big question. What is more important: Popularity, or elimination of terror? I find it ironic that we are doing the lion's share of the work in fighting terrorism, and much of the criticism, America-hating and so forth, comes from those who stand to gain with us the fruits of victory.

As for nukes: Are you not concerned about Iran's nuclear ambitions? Saddam's former amibitions? al Qaeda's? Or are we the only people who would ever dare to use one? And, no , dissenters will never be nuked here, just their arguments if they don't stand up to truth.

One thing you write does pass the test. Hardcore Islamic hatred of Israel is foundational to all this. But the Islamofacsists extend that hatred to all of Western civilization.

back to world opinion

much of the world hates us.

we hit Iraq heavily and more of the world will hate us.

"terrorism" will not end.

odd that you cannot admit what I have been trying to hammer in all the dense brains of all the Bushites on Blogit -- the root of "terrorism"

until we resolve the animosity toward Israel there will be no end of "terrorism".

period.

you could blast the Arab world into oblivion and you wouldn't solve the problem

I wonder if you have plugs in your ears or some glasses with lenses that filter in only certain misinformation.

your mindset here is if there's opposition, just blow it away -- don't ask why -- you'd probably want to do that with all of us Blogit that h ave contarary points of view

\well that aint a gonna happen

and neither is the hatred ofmuch of the world for the U.S.

talk about WAKE UP AMERICA!!!!

you mean nuke all of Iraq? --

then go on to Iran

then Syria

then lets see -- lets go ahead and nuke South America --most of the countries there hate our guts as much as does the entire arab world and the Phillipines and much of Africa and . . .

the hell with it -- let's nuke all the rest of the wrold and get it over with -- everything in radioactive cinders except for the good ol U.S.A.  -then all our troubles will be over.

Writerof Light – What was Shock & Awe?
a day at the beach?

the military argued for more boots on the ground. Powell argued for more troops. It was the Bush White House that overruled them. So, are you saying that Bush Cheney et al. are consumed by "white guilt?"

in essence, you are blaming the american public for the failure in Iraq. I wonder how this strategy will play in november ...

Corbin-Dallas,
I can tell you why you won't utter these words in public! You wil get your "fat white ass" kicked! As long as somebody else is doing the killing you are the big "white" hunter! Tell you what, pull a Tillman, go fight for your "White Privilege" and stop the whinning here in Blogit!

Writeroflight,

You will search far and wide for some form of legitimacy to the "war crimes" of George Bush, et al! This dribble does not meet the test! Do you really think you (Whitey) "got it like that"?? All the mighty military of America has to do is just start the bombing! Carnage, carnage, until the end! Sounds Hitleresque to me!

I do not know where you will hide, but when that day comes nobody is immune from the ravages of armageddon! Even your "White ass"!

This blog? Tedious?

Oh, I'm devastated!

But then that's what happens when you pay undue attention to polls.

Speakign of polls: Since Frankly wants to talk polls, let's discuss the Fox News poll this week that has Bush's approval  numbers rising! See http://www.foxnews.com/story/0,2933,194278,00.html. S/he will doubtless cite the new AP poll showing a 33% approval rating (see http://www.foxnews.com/story/0,2933,194358,00.html). So why would you accept one and not the other? Do a little digging in this blog and you'll find lots of discussion of the folly of relying on polls.

I've really never seen, not heard of, anything more tedious
....than your constant flag waving blog in support of the US's WORST president of all time...go read Rolling Stone's latest article, look at the polls, on and on...the man and his admin are going to hell in a hand basket and the relentless blogging that say's he's OK, misunderstod, on and on...aint gonna save him...do you have any other interests, perhaps?

Steels's article is outstanding.....

I read it a few days ago......To me he hits the nail right on the head.......we won't use the military force that is capable of delivering the knockout punch.....because we are afraid to appear "Imperialistic", "Brutish"......picking on a helpless adversary.

This statement sums up our current situation as well as it can be said.........

Today words like "power" and "victory" are so stigmatized with Western sin that, in many quarters, it is politically incorrect even to utter them. For the West, "might" can never be right. And victory, when won by the West against a Third World enemy, is always oppression. But, in reality, military victory is also the victory of one idea and the defeat of another. Only American victory in Iraq defeats the idea of Islamic extremism. But in today's atmosphere of Western contrition, it is impolitic to say so.

And doesn't this sound like tactics used right here on Blogit..........

Anti-Americanism, whether in Europe or on the American left, works by the mechanism of white guilt. It stigmatizes America with all the imperialistic and racist ugliness of the white Western past so that America becomes a kind of straw man, a construct of Western sin. (The Abu Ghraib and Guantanamo prisons were the focus of such stigmatization campaigns.) Once the stigma is in place, one need only be anti-American in order to be "good," in order to have an automatic moral legitimacy and power in relation to America.
