I ordered up Magic and Mystery in Tibet, as you suggested. Looking forward to reading it.

Yes there are. We could create a whole slew of them to do menial tasks, or to staff a football team, you name it!

It is not 'chod,' but 'rolang'. If you haven't read this book, I highly recommend it.

In mystical mayahana Buddhism, this is called a 'tulpa'. Alexandra David-Neel created one, as she writes in 'Magic and Mystery in Tibet.'

By far, I am most intrigued by the 'chod', or the 'corpse who stands up.' The initiate obtains a corpse and chants a magic formula while pressing his lips to the inanimate being. As it rises to its feet, the initiate must not break contact, or the being will overpower him.

There are legends of those who tried this and failed. The initiate was found murdered and the corpse was nowhere to be found.
