Hi, Symphony,
I've been pretty fortunate with my ISP, but I agree with you, sometimes it can be a frustrating nightmare. Add to that, that most customer service stinks nowadays. I hope you get some satisfaction, soon. You just let them have it! Good luck to you.

I had some problems with a cell phone an AT&T. They sold me a phone which didn't do what the salesperson said it would. It was a real mess. It seems to me that corporate america will do anything to make a profit including sales people.

You can do what you like with their "contract" after you've been with them for a year. Once you cancel the direct debit you can then look forward to a lifetime of please come back letters and shit.

Symph, I second PassionFlower! If they cannot produce a
signed contract, screw them. Also, you may want to get in touch with your bank (if it has been like, some kind of direct payment thing) or if you've been paying via credit card because a lot of those companies will challenge this FOR you. I'd look into that. I had AOL when I first got online back in 1993 and could keep them only for so long. They were horrible. I switched to Earthlink and not only do they totally filter out spam but they are reasonable in prices. (Don't know if you get Earthlink there or not.) Anyway, good luck!

Sounds like they haven't learned anything from a few years ago...
Those morons! Remember when you used to get those free 30 hours of AOL discs like, 50 times a week, in the mail. Then when everyone bit, they overwhelmed the network, AOL got sued, and all kinds of fallout happened. Looks like they haven't learned a damn thing.
I wouldn't let them take my garbage out. They suck moose-wangs, pardon the expression...

Good luck...It'll all work out...

Call them and cancel the service.
When they say that you have a contract, tell them that you never signed anything. Tell them that if they do indeed have a contract, then you need to see a copy of it, because you don't recall signing anything.
If you didn't sign anything or if they can't produce the contract then they can't legally force you to keep on using their service. I hate AOL too!

Yikes, Symphony...."Sh...after Sh... from them"....Very funny...
I shouldn't be laughing, I am on dial-up and it leaves much to be desired. But you did make me laugh out loud because you explained the bloody mess so brilliantly. Plus you said, shit a couple of times and that is always funny to me...Hope you're having a better day..

I'm sorry to read about your troubles. You can get free email independent providers like yahoo, hotmail, gmail etc. Then you can check email even from an internet cafe without the internet service provider. Good luck.

I believe there is a class action suit
about that going on in the states.... I had a hard time cancelling aol many years ago when they did not do contracts... looks like contracts are the only way to keep customers.

I have decided that my computer and its problems were meant to teach me patience. It has been a hard lesson to learn and just when I think that I have myself under control, my computer shows me how much I am still lacking self control and patience.
