Avant -
This reminds me of that quote - I'm paraphrasing now - An enigma wrapped up in a puzzle. Ah, the mysteries that tempt us.

Yes, that is true also. Yet, the ones who run over others must first perceive themselves weaker for doing so.

HI
This one's too complicated to fully understand so early in the morning but am I right in saying that in striving to improve ourselves, we are in fact telling ourselves we are not good enough? Perhaps we should be satisfied with ourselves as we are?

Avant,
Humility is too often confused with weakness, I believe. This is not a culture that believes in rewarding the meek, rather in running right over them. It takes a little practice to see beyond the illusions of grandeur to see them for what they are: smoke and mirrors that crumble away.

There you have it. Being more is being less, but disguised as more than what it looks down upon. Humility is a rare commodity these days and times.

Avant-Garde,
Perhaps even the question of "more" or "less" is a trap, a sort of false duality. "I am what I am and that's all that I am", is a quote from Popeye. Acceptance is a form of humility.

Even now when I reread it, it takes my mind on a twisting journey of looking inward. I come up with these by calling upon spirits who are blessed with divine wisdom to imbue my being.

I would like to visit there someday. Until then, I will wistfully regard the teachings that spring from the heart of the earth. Thanks for the comment.

This made me think of what I call the "I AM" presence. It is the spark of God Energy within all of us. Think about this and re-read your words. Pretty intense...thanks!

Avant, India is unlike any other place on the planet. I have been there many times and I have a deep love/aversion relationship with India. It is the best and the worst and both are happening at the same time. Bharath (India) claims to be the birthplace of mankind's spiritual knowledge. The Sanathana Dharma (eternal wisdom) originated there and is said to the foundation of all religion. I can find nothing in the Sanathana Dharma that would negate that claim. If you look at India, it is shaped like a heart. Bharath claims to the spiritual heart of mankind. Bharath freely gives to the West it's place as the "head" - advanced mundane knowledge certainly originated here in the West, technology, reason, etc. but, Bharath takes the very reasonable position that the body (the earth, mankind) are not whole unless the head and the heart work in unison and harmony. I'm a Western white man; nevertheless, as I tell my Indian friends, I consider India to be my spiritual mother. Dive deeply into the wisdom that lies in India - at worst you will be washed in transformative seas, at best you will surface with pearls. Samhain_Moon

There isn't really such a thing ; it's just my name for one who reads and admired the poetry of Omay Khayyam. You really should read it, for his views, attitude, whatever one likes to call it, coincide so perfectly with yours and mine.
It's so beautiful!
Dreaming when Dawn's left hand was in the sky,
I heard a voice within the tavern cry,
Awake! My little ones and fill the cup,
before Life's liquor in its cup be dry!"

avant,
Thanks! Actually, I hope to be writing some this week. Today, though, I have my grandson and I just slipped up to the computer while he's napping. I'm excited to be back and want to continue my "Living With a Sociopath" blog. I miss all the interaction with you and the other bloggers and I see that there are a few new ones.

I'm so glad you've returned. Losing your father was traumatic, I'm sure. I lost mine to brain cancer in '89.
Oh, I don't know. I must be hard-wired to do this. I look forward to reading you again.

avant,
Whew!!! I'm just getting back to Bloggit after losing my dad and, of course, I read your post. I love to read your posts, though my mind had to work more than I was prepared to handle. How do you so consistently come up with mind boggling posts? You have quite a talent.
