I'd oppose a mass all-at-once deportation, but not something more graduated.

Good point, Daarke, about food. Makes a good argument for growing your own and for planning ahead.

A day probably won't make a difference, but I wonder how long we would be comfortable without food.  Not just the harvesting of the crops, but the packing and shipping too.  If they walked off for a week or a month...then there might be a noticable shortage in the grocery stores. 

Personally, I do like to eat on a regular basis.  But I think that the food industry is a prime example of where these "illegal" (because not all of them are illegal-but most are of Mexican origin) workers impact our economy.

In 1954 the U.S. deported over a million illegals.  Maybe we need to borrow a page from "Ike's" playbook.
