the dominant male leader of the tribe
the old man of prehistory developing from that -- a male of such impact that the tribe worshipped him -- a protector and defender -- much like military leaders who are successful are worshipped -- or a president who spouts nationalistic fervor -- all come from the same source -- the primates' dominant males.

then that old man once he had dies -- well -- imagine all the dreams people had about him -- imagine that impact -- the old man lived on intheir dreams -- "lived forever"

the next logical step should be to discard this mythological notion (did you notice how much the Christian god resembles Zeus, or Jupiter? -- coincidence?)

i truly think the Christian god getsin the way of discovering what "god" truly is

and then we have to discard "god" as we know it, also --
