Break it to her gently. Thanks. Are you still afloat?

Thanks for this. I guess it just makes us more determined to do the right thing.

Simple Semen, ho ho, I'd not heard that one. Must go tell the wife.

Malcolm,
It must be hard to try to raise kids in a world where corruption seems to be it's own reward.  Maybe it's just more obvious now, clearly the Romans were no saints, but when it's in my face I find it hard to ignore.

Thanks. Yes, as I was saying to Dave, I want it to be fun not a formality. Good to hear from you again too.

Thank you. I will. It does make you mad though when you're trying to teach your children, by your own example and that of others, values such as honesty and decency. Claire, who is nine, wanted to know how these people had got such important jobs if they were so bad!. Enjoy the weekend too.

Ha ha! I heard that his nickname had also changed - to 'Simple Semen.'

I had to let the other blogs go as I was just not finding time to update them regularly and it was becoming a pressure rather than a pleasure. With the one blog to concentrate on I hope to be able to enjoy it all again. (Thanks for asking).

Horrifying isn't it? I think that some people have extended the meaning of the word 'debate' to 'hood while winking.' Many thanks for your comment

The upper echelon frequently feel they don't have to abide by their own rules. Good to hear from you again. I see you've downsized. It makes sense. I couldn't maintain more than one myself.

What happened to your other blogs, by the way?

Malc, I hear they don't call him 'Two Jags' any more...

It's 'Two shags' now.

Politicians from all parties will never cease to let us down, I'm sure.

Malcolm,

I can't comment on the specifics of these two politicians, but I have been nearly frothing at the mouth for 5 years with the same questions.  The blatant misconduct and cavalier attitude and denial of wrongdoing seems to be a hallmark of politicians everywhere.

I sometimes wonder if the ability to forget what they said or did in the previous 24 hours and to lie and distort facts so adamantly is a prerequisite for holding public office.  I would be overwhelmed by guilt, for example, if I had been the Director of FEMA, the emergency agency in charge of the New Orleans rescue, and so many people were left without supplies, yet, somehow Mike Brown seems to have been more concerned, according to his email, about which shirt and tie made him look better on tv!

Alot of folks with strong moral values
WILL NOT get into politics. That leaves all those wusses, liars, cheats and lazy jerks to do the job. Run for a local office in your community. Make a difference.
