Dear 'Symphony' consider telling your daughter that the princess was
saved, by a 'Good Fairy Prince' from across the pond. That he had come to her in a dream, dressed as a frog, and that he had all the right and delicious food for her, and that he smothered her with kisses and hugs until she finally gave the frog a big kiss in return, and he turned into a prince, and they lived happily ever whatever.            WWPiMM

SYMPHONY
Tell her its a Fairy Tale but then join in the fun with her.   Help her make some cookies for a little tea party for the three of you and then set aside a couple of them for the princess.   Take her to the tower and let her dig a little hole and bury them for the princess to have or something like that.   Be creative.   But continue to remind her that it is just a "play like" fairy tale and the moral of the story is that there are people with problems everywhere who need our help.   Tell her that her response was a good one.

You have to tell your daughter that the story is
Merely a fictious tale meant to be a bit romatic, but still completely false. How could anyone live for 300 years? Tell her the little princess does not really exist.

Nymph.... I really wish adults would consider
the consequences of their stories to kids.  Hugs, you're daughter is a sweetie pie.

Symph, if it is a "true" story from 300 years ago,
tell her the truth...The girl is dead. LONG DEAD because it was over 300 years ago and it's impossible for anyone to remain physically alive for all those years. Physical beings cannot survive that long AND, unfortunately, there are many physical beings that died in such ways throughout history. However, If  it was just a fairytale, well, I'd ask the teacher what purpose his reasoning was of telling such a tale to 7 and 8 year old children was in the first place. Just my 2 cents!

I'll save the day....Tell her that the Princess secretly has the key and won't let anybody have it.The princess is having to much fun being famous.

Tell her it's just a story and let her come up with an ending.

I agree, tell her it is a story and perhaps go to the library to borrow books with similar stories. Read them together. It was only since the "Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe" was made into a movie that I found out all my sons remember me reading them the entire Narnia series.

Symphony
I'm with some of these bloggers........tell her the truth, that it is just a story, and have fun making up a ending.  Good luck!

ok.. this is mean but..

I don't lie to my kids...

here's what I told them about Santa Clause.

This person lived a long time ago.... but he also died a long time ago....  adults just like to pull children's legs.

It might work in this case.

Of course my daughter went to school (back when she did go to school) and announced to the Kindergarten class that Santa Was Dead!

Oh that sounds like fun...
sarcasm... do they have school carnivals by you where you can throw a ball and if you hit the target the teacher falls in the tank of water?? Maybe you could propose they start one...I am sure other parents might like it and the kids would LOVE it...

The truth is nobody human lasts for 300 years. A ghost can't be rescued because she wants to remain in that castle. Lol.

Sorry,
I think maybe the truth would be better. Perhaps explain how the legend came about.

Symphony
I'd sit down with her and teach her about fables and true stories luv.

That's Simple
Tell her only a Prince can rescue a Princess. Or I'm sure Uncle Dave can get to her he owns the castle. Kidding. Take care.

lol it isn't always easy...
for kids to make a difference between reality and fiction...

I don't see any need for you to pretend that this is real
Just explain that is fairytale.

It wasn't right of Shannon's teacher to put you in that position.  I'm sure he didn't mean to, but he should have taken more time to explain that the story of the princess was just that...A story.  Good luck...If I come up with any ideas, I'll let you know.

I'm with Scriber. Tell her it's a story, and then offer to sit down

with her and write a good ending to it, so that she can make her own ending--using her own imagination to draw pictures, as well.  It cement in her mind what a story is--something made up.  Then have her take the ending to the teacher and read it to him.

Then wad it up and make that dumb shit eat it...

Symp. tell your daughter that what the teacher told her is a story, like
those in her books.  etc.
