It's a yin-yang thing. Ebb and flow, buffer space to change pace in.

It's just nice not to feel all the time that you have to be "proving your love" (propping your sig o's self esteem) by entertaining them or being their audience, although you're there and so are they when it's time.

Nothing eats up a relationship faster than a disparity of needs in that arena...well, I can think of quite a few, but it'll drive you to drink just the same. I think Rod Serling did that once. As Heinlein said, "Nothing propinks like propinquity".

Good point
But for me there is just so much going on in the world, and in my head that I need to talk with someone about this stuff. The days seem too short. That someone I would hope would be the person I spend the most time with/live with.

When you are confident, you CAN be silent if you want,

it's when you're forced to put a sock in it that it hurts (by distance, illness, misundestandings, or the Big Dirt Nap or whatever).

PS: you're on my favorites list now. Big whoop, but a click a day beats a quiet afternoon with a book on the East Coast, no? Thaks for the classy posts!!
