You've touched on a key issue which seems to cause wilful blindness in some:  Our cherished principles carry within them the possible seeds of our own destruction.   Let's all sink, but boy, are we principled.   Good post

extraordinary threats require extraordinay responses. History shows that cultures that will not adapt to changing conditions are doomed.

So we should rush to embrace the worst qualities of this Islamic/terroist way of life?  If we don't stand by our principles then we have none.
