OOOPS..
Leviticus, sorry.

One of my favorite issues, Liviticus.
Seriously folks, get a life. And yeah, the whole thing about gays destroying the sanctity of marriage. Arrrgh. I support everyone's right to ruin their lives as they see fit. If you want to be a bible fountain and spout nonsense under the guise of fact, have at it, but leave us out of it. Those of us who aren't gay don't necessarily hate gays, but those of us who aren't christian are forced to engage in a constant battle just to have our basic right of choice intact. I'll take all the so-called abominations over the holy control freaks any day. :)

KarmaTrain -- I have heard a few things along those lines in the past but
I'm not sure if the assertion of King James being a pedophile has corroborating evidence.  In any event, the political deal making that you refer to is, if not based on a factual account, certainly modelled from one of many simular common occurances.

vickip - I have always found that the people who were most willing to judge

were the biggest screw ups in life.

Maturity should teach us that holding others up to standards that we oursleves are not capable of, or are willing to maintain is an unworkable paradigm. Yet we see some folks, armed with their holy book of choice, doing this all of the time. Some even taking it as far as a public campaigns. One of my favourites, and one that illustrates while staying on topic, is the ongoing campaign by the Christian right to "preserve the sanctity of marriage" as they demonstrate against same sex marriage. They are vocal in decrying how same sex marriage will destroy the institution of marriage and subsequently society as it dissolves the family unit. What is funny about this is that the Christian right has the highest divorce rate of any identifyable group on the planet. They lead the entire world in divorce rates yet have appointed themselves as guardians of the institution? No single group could ever do as much damage as they have to the family unit.

FranklyMydear1 -- things have quieted down around here lately
but for awhile, there was no shortage of God squad members with sparkly clean craniums and a full fledged bible lobotomy. The drivel that they would spew as if it were fact and sincerely believe to be true, really makes a person wonder about our educational systems and the overall surviveability of the human species.

blackcat30 -- I've often wondered how some people can take it so literally
It's as if they live on a different planet than the one I live on.

Wasn't King James threatened with a forced abdication
if he didn't "do something really big" for the church, admonishing his own pediphyllic tendencies? Something to think about in that particular translation. Love the blog

I feel sorry for those people who selectively translate the Bible ...

new testament or old, and then use their translation to judge me -- I respectively point them to what Paul says about these finger-pointing people who are smug in their own sense of righteousness (Romans 2:1-5)

"Therefore you have no excuse, every one of you who passes judgment for in that which you judge another, you condemn yourself; for you who judge practice the same things..."

Excellent post - I'm glad I found your blogs ....

well said....
it really is all quite tedious, the goobers who rant and rave and tell other's how to live thier lives, while they themselves simply look stupid to everyone else on the planet...

I don't take it all so literally, so I see what you mean.
btw... I'm glad you're not gay either...
