Dear Thirtysomething-
I thank you for your kind words and for reading my blog. My friends and daughter would call it one of my "Carole letters."
Blessings to a fellow educator!

Hi Frankenkitty-
I love that pin!! What a truism THAT one is! Not everyone liked me either. I remember how I won one man's respect. I was teaching at a new school and sitting at the lunch table with Mr. Nielson, a burr-hair cut, cowboy boots, science teacher type. I have no recollection what the topic of conversation was that day, but I came out with some comment that was really nasty (but funny), to which he replied, "I don't believe you just said that." I looked up and into his eyes. There he was, with this astonished grin on his face! Then I looked right and left and saw everyone giggling behind their hands, and shrugged my shoulders and said, with a straight face and a bite of lunch, "Well, it's true, isn't it?" Everyone burst out laughing then and he said, "I used to think I didn't like you, but you're all right, Carey." I had a defender in JOHN from then on. (Not that I
needed defending; sometimes you don't know WHAT people think about you until they really get to know who you are. And I do come up with a streak of wicked, yet funny"nasties" from time to time, which ARE true........) I'm usually thought of as "so sweet" except by the boy wonder who called me a huge whore. I told my husband that I'd been called that, and his eyebrows shot
up! Good thing "mr. keep 'em pregnant" wasn't around
here!! He tried to read everything but he has ADD and didn't follow the thread very long before he got confused!!

Thanks for the read and the comment!

My friend had a pin on her school bag in highschool that
said, "I bet you think a clitoris is a dinosaur." Isn't that funny. Great blog! There are many chauvinist males in this world but I don't feel like I defend myself to anyone. Not everyone likes me, but that's just the way it is. Take care

From one sister to another. . .
I thank you for that. You are so strong in the face of we must all face some day. You represent the pixie girl in this panel:

When I read about all you have done, what a rich and varied life you have led, I would say you have always done what the pixie girl above does, I think. You look everything and everyone in this world in the eye and hold your head high. Even when you write about your lows, your spirit is right there, on the edge, ready to take that leap.
I admire your vigor, your toughness, your vulnerability. You write with so much passion and fire. You are an inspiration to me to get out there and write it out, too, and not let my PD hold me prisoner. So keep writing from your heart. And I will, too.

Cee~
So much to address in your post but let me just say that you are 'Queen.' You are wisdomful and I absorb your words and hopefully am able to apply some of your grace into my life. I've never quite looked at life as a woman as you so put it in this post but now I 'get it' a bit more.......... my confusion and endless searching makes a bit more sense. I hope to read your book someday soon.
