Ego needs memory, I agree. But beyond that, is it necessary? That's what I wonder.

My apologies. I'm afraid with the terseness comes ambiguity.

The mind cannot imagine what it cannot see. . .
Without memories we would not have a glimpse into what goes beyond. God says it is so big, that he is so big, our minds cannot fathom the immensity.  Great Post!!

In this imperfect world, this time and place, I am thankful for limits.   But, even though I am thankful for limits, I am also thankful for my desire to overcome limits and looking forward to when they are no longer needed.

Omniscience~ you made me go and look the spelling of that word up so I could try and understand better what I was reading. I can't pay your blog a higher compliment than that my friend.

Precisely. We must question the known, and negate it to transcend it.

It's just a figure of speech, designed to create a paradoxical effect.

I'm glad you like visiting and sharing your thoughts. Blogging can be productive after all! I think I would be the last to write erotica! You must visit Krisles for that.

J. Krishnamurti spent his life asking these questions. We must have memory to function, to remember how to do things. It is when we derive emotions and attachments from doing that memory becomes mishandled.

At the same time, however, we must pass through this 'mishandling' in order to discover what we are not. In discovering it, the 'nameless name' appears and we taste a glimpse of immortality while in the flesh.

Nice post..as it should be... its a paradox that mind itself has limit but still can grasp the limitless......that speaks about ourselevs..limited in thought & action..but limitless in expressions....

"the mind's use of time through memory" makes it hard to fathom the limitless beyond. How true!

Now I have to go look up "tetherless tether".  :)

Avant, the "tetherless tether" is something worth pondering
and Sannhet's question is interesting also. Blogit is great somedays! btw.... I did a double take when I read your blog description, I thought it said "erotica"... LOL

two thoughts: 1) I'm certain that we sometimes 'remember the future'. I've had the experience. What exactly does this say about time, space, past, future, the apparent linear nature of things? If we are a hologram, well...that opens possibilities. 2) Enlightened beings, of whom I have met a few, have no past or future; they only know now. They seem to live without memory but, are always spontaneous and authentic in that eternal now. ........great post.....I'm only musing........samhain_moon

I wonder if memory is a construct of Ego? Would we have memory if we didn't have Ego to always wonder about the past and future? Could we exist without memory?
