Really good article.   Sociologists think one of the things that marks the transition to modern humans is honoring and remembering the dead.  In an old Twilight Zone parade of Civil War dead, the last man was Lincoln, just another man who had done his duty and paid for it with his life.  We all will walk that road one day.
