'bout time I responded to some of this!

Glenn, it's always fun to have you weighing in.

"You sound like a Facist[sic]! People are not allowed to join Unions? What next? You people keep labeling others cowards for not supporting a "Coward's" war! Why? Lose the labels!!!!"

But then isn't "Fascist" a label?   I'd love to read your ideas for Americans confining their ideas to American shores as you suggest in the other comment, given the worldwide reach of the Internet, radio, TV and so forth. As for orders, right about illegal and unlawful orders, but that was never the point of what I mentioned. And where did you ge people not being allowed to join unions? Read it again - I'm going off on union members being paid to not work.

Blogflog, I've had lots of contact with liberals. Unlike you, I have no qualms about associating with people of dissenting opinions. You're as confusing as Glenn on this: "The Pentagon and the Bush administration did not REFUTE the opinions of the retired Generals, they merely offered opposing views / defenses" And did not those views and defenses refute the retirees? And if they were only opinions, then why is what they're saying taken as conclusive proof?

Good analysis of generals making public statements . But once again: Why only seven, out of hundreds of retired generals? Why haven't there been more? Could it just be that these seven are wrong and in the clear minority?

Good call about unions, but I think GM was objecting all along. Just didn't have the backbone to make the objections stick.

WriterofLight - Do you even know, or have you ever MET, a liberal?

You throw around general statements which merely display your ignorance. For the most part I socialize with moderates and liberals, and I employ moderate and liberals. I do all I can to avoid spending time with rabid, blind, conservatives such as you seem to be.

I am not surprised the SecDef does not spend time refuting what is written about him. He has a full time very critical job.

The Pentagon and the Bush administration did not REFUTE the opinions of the retired Generals, they merely offered opposing views / defenses.

A General making public statements opposing the SecDef would be busted (rank) and perhaps charged with being a traitor. In the military club NO ONE speaks out against the brass. As some of the retired Generals have stated, the (1) did the best they could to promote their opinions while serving, they (2) did they best they could with the orders they were given, and (3) being dutiful members of the military they refrained from speaking out until retired, at which time they felt it their DUTY to let the American public know that they, EXPERIENCED MEMBERS OF THE MILITARY, had vociferously disagreed with our NON-MILITARY inexperienced SecDef. This is called freedom of speech. Then again, this administration does not exactly promote or encourage the freedom of speech.

The auto companies agreed to the terms of the unions. Now, when they are forced to make good on retirement promised made years ago, is NOT the time to start whining about the unions. FWIW, I feel unions have outlived their usefulness, but I have no patience with whining corporations who made their own messes.

I’ve had a lifetime supply of the blanket statements and all-encompassing descriptions of anyone who is NOT a conservative. The ignorance of the bigoted right is unbelievable.

WriterofLight,

Again being  perrched so far from the carnage you are allowed to be the ignorant messenger! There are plenty of loud voices spreading the fear of diversity on the Planet! George Inc. has mastered the "Chicken Little" role with people like you sounding the trumpets! In the end he is consumed by the "real" facts!

The Planet is big enough to have more than one ideology! Let Americans confine theirs to American shores! I wonder if Rumsfeld is really in touch with his sanity! As for following orders you are seriously mistaken about the duty of a soldiers! Unlawful and illegal orders are not to be followed!
