Thanks

Thank you for your comments, hopefully more will come.  Assuming that crime is not a factor, a matter open to debate, and some form of population regulation is kept so we are not standing on each other's heads, what are the cons?

Farsailor

A very hot topic. I want the mexicans here, I just don't want them here illegally.

This country is made up of immigrants. The difference is that the immigrants that make up this country are legal. They pay their taxes, they pay for their own health care and they speak the language and abide by the laws. Those immigrants from before all went through the process of becoming citizens of this country; legally.

If we allow free access to the mexicans, why not do away with any type of immigration control for the rest of the world? Let any and all come in to this country and watch how quickly we become another Mexico.

Immigration post, scavenged from my myspace blog

Forget about my navel gazing--HR4437!

About 200 middle school students just walked past my house, protesting the proposed immigration reform bill HR4437. I almost had tears in my eyes because it's so rarely that I see anyone rally in this country, and these were kids.

Whether this bill is passed or not, I promise this. When I feel impelled to help someone, I will not ask their immigration status first. Birthplace is an accident, the immigration crisis is a red herring for money spent elsewhere and problems everywhere, and I have worked in a place with a kitchen that was filled with undocumented immigrants. These workers had no health insurance but paid taxes on every item they bought everywhere, and I didn't see people standing in line trying to get their job.

I've spent my whole life living in Southern California, a place that is the United States but would not be what it is without the Mexicans who lived here in the past and who still live here.

Los Angeles es mestizo como mi corazon.
