Of course -- the "blessings of Almighty God" were verbalized by
a tyrannical dictator bent on blowing Israel off the face of the map, and intent on (given his druthers) essentially destroying the infidels -- i.e. anyone who is not Muslim.  Last I knew, Christians and those who trust in God (i.e. "in God we trust") were not quite so hell bent on taking over the world by force.

Corbin...

No.

We can never justify preemptive strikes. If we could then Osama Bin Laden could rationalize that September 11th was a preemptive strike because he knew that the US would invade Iraq.

Iran could launch a preemptive strikes against the US because they "know" that the US will use firepower to halt their nuclear development.

The path of "preemption" is a slippery slope indeed!

You make an excellent point.....

Have the parameters changed since Truman's decision?

Is it ever justified to be pre-emptive?

The West Has No Right To Prevent An Autonomous Nation...

from developing nuclear power or nuclear weapons.

As for the blessings of God, remember, In God We Trust! The United States of America is the only country in history to have used nuclear weapons against humanity...I'm sure Truman prayed to God before he made the decision to annihilate Nagasaki and Hiroshima.
