- Go to Illegal Immigration Controversy Raises Tough Questions
Welcome, OnBeingAnAmerican!
Welcome to the fray, and thanks so much for commenting! Well stated, but I would disagree a bit.
The Republicans have held power in Congress for much longer than four years, and regardless of who's been in the White House no one has done anything worthwhile to secure the borders in decades. And failed border security does not negate the successes abroad. Fighting terrorists "over there" is working, but border security also needs to be part of the war as well.

Illegal Immigration Controversy Raises Tough Questions
I'm new to Blogit and I really enjoyed your post on illegal immigration. You are correct. It does raise tough questions.
This is an issue on which no party has covered itself with glory. The Democrats are craven opinion poll followers and will do and say anything to regain their majority in Congress. The Republicans, on the other hand, have had four years to secure our borders and have done nothing. In fact, that is precisely what led me to believe that the Global war on Terrorism is a sham. If this was a serious war, the FIRST thing we would have done is to secure our borders. Fighting the bad guys "over there" to keep from having to fight them here is pure bull if our borders leak like a sieve.
