Not the same
I still read the comics quite often, but the only really good one carried in my local paper is "The Pluggers."
The greats - Calvin and Hobbes, the Far Side, Dilbert - I miss those. Now we have crap like "Candorville," which is very political and not funny.

Somehow in my adulthood I have moved away from the funnies but I surely did grow up on them. The paper truck came down the street morning and evening and you would always see two or three of us (seven kids in all) standing out in the yard trying to catch the paper so we could read it first. I loved
Smiling Jack Martin and
Brenda Star. I was terribly fascinated by the man whose face was never shown and the Mystery Man who wore the black patch over one eye. LOL

Family Circus
was always my favorite. I don't usually get the Sunday paper, but like to pick up the local paper from different towns as I go through.

I seldom read newspapers anymore. So, you bet! I miss the funnies. (I think I'll search the web and see if they're there.)

Whacky...
Katzenjammers Kids? Wow, it's been awhile. Our paper dropped Gas Alley for Luanne or something, which I find remotely amusing, mostly cause I am so dange old. Anyway, what was I saying? Then you must remember Dondi and someof those. Often I describe my eyebrows as "being like Snuffy Smith's moustache" only to have people give me a blank stare. I really miss "Far Side" and "Calvin & Hobbs."

I find bloggers funnier than the funnies now...

There aren't too many comics that would really appeal to my sense of humor now...

Hi-ya Whacky!!
I love reading the funnies!! In fact, they're usually the only part of the newspaper I can read....My faves are FRANK AND ERNEST, GARFIELD, THE PEANUTS, BEETLE BAILEY, and THE FAMILY CIRCUS.
I've never heard of THE KATZENJAMMER KIDS or the other one you've mentioned here, but they sound like great fun!!
Love ya...God bless...

The funnies are the only section of the newspaper that is not depressing.

My dad read the comics to me when I was just a tot. When I was old enough to read them myself, I never stopped. Well, at least not until I moved overseas. They don't have funny pages here. Oh sure, you might find Dilbert or Zits or Baby Blues placed all by itself on a page in the middle of the business section, translated into German, of course, but it's just not the same. Man, I miss reading the comics on Sunday morning... The older I get, the less I think they're written for youngsters.

Tom and I...
read the funnoes to each other over lunch on Saturdays and Sundays. No matter our differing points of view, this brings us together even more than a kiss. Laughter is the common bond that causes people to grow with each other instead of apart.
