sannhet - afraid or incapable of thinking for themselves
In this case I chose one of about 5 simular comments I received from this individual. All were in the same vein, outlining why I am deficient of character and inferior in comparison to this person simply because of differing religious perspective. The thing that always surprises me (though it shouldn't) is how it is expected that I am going to take this from someone whom I would not trust to carry my briefcase.

Gome and Xeno -
Maybe part of it is that many people are just afraid to think for themselves. Maybe they're afraid to find out what is real and find out that they don't actually fit where they think they do. It's so much easier to let someone else tell them what to do and where to go. I've often wondered if that is why sheep figure so prominently in the Bible?

it begs the question

how can people believe so strongly in things that were invalid in the13th Century.

like the primacy of a certain religiious leader

etc.

so m any people get so engrossed in a belief system

and what is interesting is that all the disparate Christian belief systems will tell you that the others are wrong and that they virtually alone are right.

and no one outside of their belief system can see it.

there's a view from the inside and a view from theoutside.

what you have to do is let them have their view -- it's a ball of comfort with which they see the world.

yes, warpped up in themselves

but it is themselves -- take it away and they aren't.

just wish they would leave you all alone.

kooka_lives -- that's one thing we see too much of
Some knucklehead flips open a bible, buys into the carefully crafted concepts as found within it and comes away with the underlying message completely missing the mark. Instead, they deem themselves superior to others simply by having read and memorized some of this ancient book. Then once assuming a position of self righteous superiority, they feel it is their right to deride others who do not see what they think they see.

It drives me crazy

Dealing with people that full of themselves.
They are not doing it to try and help you out, but to show you how great they are because they force their beliefs on you.  You really have to wonder how strong their beliefs are when they are unable to really appreciate them without getting others to agree that their beliefs are so great.

But of course the Christian God is all about ego and being better than everyone else, so I guess it just makes sense that those followers take on that personality flaw themselves.

mysteria - that's right on and ultimately why I was so unkind
This is clearly a case of an individual that is not happy and wants to convince themselves that everything is just fine. A way to do this for some people is to attempt to point out the shortcomings of others. The problem is that this individual picked on the wrong person. I'd have to fall off of a 3 story building and land on my head to view life with the limitations that this person does. Where I normally just ignore people with this mindset, this time I simply got a little tired of someone attempting to use me as a tackling dummy to vent their own frustrations.

That Comment You Speak Of Here Seems Very Self Serving
to me... The words of a person filled with guilt perhaps?
