That's what was so strange, Renigade ...
it looked gray (at least to me).  However, my mother says she always considered it to be more "blue-ish".

What color was the wig?

No, I knew what you meant, Lensman.

MPO
By the way, when I talk about a rewrite,  I'm referring to rewriting the last chapter of some people's lives, not referring to your post, just in case it sounded that way ;-)

I'm sure I'll post it eventually ...
Actually, I'd love to attend Mrs. Schumacher's funeral (and then, write about it) ... but, I'm not sure if my mother can get tickets.

...i'm double scorpio...we scorpions think and talk about death all of the time....when we are not busy with sex and drugs....i'm always interested in a good death, funeral or related story....do tell, do tell..... SL

Strangelove, who are you?  Greta Garbo?

I actually have a pretty weird (unrelated) funeral story to share at some point, too.

Thank you, Layla ...
A couple people much closer to me died a few years ago, but regardless of how well you actually know the deceased ... it's always rather surreal when someone you have been in contact with suddenly ceases to exist.

....i want to be alone too....i don't want anybody looking at me for God's sake..... SL

Good point, TAPS- ...
I'm not convinced there is such a thing as a preferable way to die.

posted by Mademoiselle on April 9, 2006 at 9:04 PM | link to this | reply

Scriber, this is a true story ...

not a sequel to "The Crying Game".

I'm sure she had other memorable qualities as well, Lensman.
I just personally never witnessed them.  At least, not any positive ones.

I guess the lesson, littlemspickles, is that ...
that's no way to live, either.

Thank you very much, Ben ...
Although, I'm actually more of an "anchovy" girl.

Yes, Mason, I did.

So sorry to hear, MPO...

I mean, even if she was a horrible old thing.  Sad to go that way, I guess...

You wrote about it OH-SO-WELL, though!!!

M.P.O.
You know, its funny (funny strange) how people view things differently.   One comment says, "...a terrible way to go....alone..."     I think that I would like to be alone when I die (assuming natural causes).   I've seen it all--death--in every way possible, with family and friends standing around, without anyone at all, with only a nurse (me) trying to give comfort.    I don't think I want my loved ones with me watching me die.   It is a very personal thing and I would like to face it alone but, I would want to be sure that my family members knew that and didn't feel guilty about it.     As Lensman says, dignity is very important--for the benefit of those left behind.

I thought we were being set up for a male Mrs. S.

Where's the dignity....to be remembered as a bad smell.

Such a final chapter deserves to be rewritten.

posted by Lensman on April 9, 2006 at 4:28 PM | link to this | reply

what a terrible way to go...
no friends or family to notice until after a week of passing...

Here are the sprinkling topping of 4 clicks to go with the pizza. Thanks.

..speaking (well writing) about death..
did you happen to see my post yesterday?

This tragedy hasn't exactly produced a lot of "lovely visuals", Ben.

Thank you, BlackPearl ...
That's always been one of my goals ... ever since becoming enthralled by the work of Charles Addams and Edward Gorey.

M.P.O.,
Sorry to hear about your neighbor, but your writing always seems to make even morbid things humorous.  Not that death is humorous, I'm just saying... :)

It's like Garrison Keilor says, iSiSeYeSs:
They say such nice things about people at their funerals that it makes me sad to realize I'm going to miss mine by just a few days.

It is improving daily, Smartdog ...

or I should say, I'm growing more and more accustomed to it each day.

Thank you for your concern.

Yeah, that pretty much sums it up, Strangelove ...
At  least that's what I know thus far.

Captain, a woman has just died ...

Show some respect.

Hey, one time, she was yelling at some kids and her teeth fell out!

It was hilarious!

....m.p.o......did i get this right?....1) mrs. schumacher died 2) her dwelling reeked of an incredibly foul odor 3) she was a crotchety, mean-spirited old crone ----- am i to conclude that the stench of her personality lingered for a whole week after she was gone???? amazing!!!!  .....sorry....i'm shameless  SL

Oh great, Ann ...

Now, I'll be imagining Mrs. Schumacher playing on the slide.

Perhaps so, Una ...
No further word though, as of yet.

MPO,

Isn't it funny how we are "supposed" to speak in hushed tones and only say nice things about the recently departed?

I imagine when I go, someone somewhere will throw a party.  Although I never call the cops to open my peanut butter fer chrissake.  I did go to ER once for what turned out to be nothing more than a little gas trouble.  Not the furnace gas rather.

Anyway, I bet you'll miss the sirens and false alarms in time.

It's amazing that death always surprises us somehow - even when we know it's coming.

Be well,

P.S. I hope the hand is getting better

MPO: What an original story!

That's why I love your blog.  Everyday something fresh, new, creative and brilliant!

(just teasing you back)

No, but seriously, I do enjoy the original voice in your work.  It is always well done.

Don't worry about the "typos", food4thought ...
and yes, it is weird how dying tends to dramatically improve one's standing in the community.

It is quite a story, isn't it, shypettite ...
Really puts my minor hand injury in perspective (a story which I'm never going to get around to telling, if all this stuff keeps happening).

posted by Mademoiselle on April 8, 2006 at 11:07 PM | link to this | reply

Yeah, I'll try to get more info, Cesium ...

Though, to be honest, I'm surprised I was able to find out as much as I did (at this point).

My mother knew Mrs. Schumacher's daughter (casually), so ... maybe she can find out something tomorrow.

MPO...
The truth is the truth.  I hate it when suddenly the town SOB croaks and to hear people talke you would have thought he was Mother Teresa instead of a mother you-know-what.  If one can't say anything nice, then don't say anything and you did that beautifully.  Sorry about the typo.  They drive me crazy, I have to take medicine for it.  It makes me typo-allerginic.

Well if this were CSI
you'd be too innocent-looking and they'd have to swab you for DNA to rule you out as a suspect.

Let us know what happened.
