well said
life is an awesome responsibility, and i suppose the more ignorant we are, the less inclined we are to recognize and accept responsibility.

Hi there
I agree with most of the comments on here. And thanks for your comment on my blog about not wanting to go to a crime scene, lol. NO! I'm not going to go to one either anymore. I've backed out, I'm not that insane. Our crime here in the bad area's can be really bad and I think I'll just read about it and not put on a kelvar vest and go to where the shacks are in the middle of the night, where it's so pitch black and as I'm about to climb out of a police car I'm suddenly in the hail of bullets. I'll just use my imagination, to write about it, thank you! I loved reading your blog, and will be back for more. V.

Hi, Sophistie,

I see your point, and I also see Blanche's points too, that sometimes people just want to be ignorant.  They are even "blissful" in it, as others have also pointed out.  That's a tough one.  A person only need be ignorant for as long as he/she allows himself/herself to be.  For any of us to grow out of our ignorance, we have to want to learn, to be educated, to be informed.  It's a shame that some people prefer to remain in the dark, but I guess when that happens, they must have their reasons.  Thanks for the thought-provoking post.  :)

SOPHISTIE

Hmm, "Where ignorance is bliss,

'Tis folly to be wise." (Gray)

Sophistie,

I think that ignorance can be willful and deliberate or it can be an absence of knowledge. If someone keeps an open mind,  is honest with themselves and willing to learn, then ignorance is no barrier to learning and improving. It's the closed mind that refuses to acknowledge that he or she is ignorant that leads to bad behavior, imho.

BTW, I like your name, I had to check when I saw your nickname history when I saw your comment, and recognized  you as Drjpt, Sophistie conjures up the image of "Sophist" or "sophisticated", very nice.

Yes, I Understand Ignorance Can Be Bliss
I find it a problem when it adversely affects, especially when person is in a leadership position in a church.  I can handle it in other places for I know how people are in different roles.  Thanks for commenting!

Around my world, most people find ignorance as a bliss, so to say, I guess it would depend on what the person chose to be ignorant about...

Soph,
Ignorant people aren't interested in learning anything.

Soph
Good and bad behaviors can change because they are actions.  Ignorance is inaction.

Be well,
