"SEXY MEDIA A SIR3N CALL TO PROMISCUITY?' HEADLINES YAHOO STORY ON MEDIA

influencing teen behavior more than that of parents.

1,017 adolescents ages 12-14, studied by N. Carolina researchers, found that when exposed to movies, TV shows, music and magazines, which were checked for their sexual content, the teens were sexually active 2.2 times more than similar youngsters with less exposure.

"This is the first time we've shown that the more times teens are exposed to sex in Media, the earlier they have sex." said Jane Brown, U. of N. Carolina, chief author of the report.

The teenage pregnancy rate is 3 to 10 times higher in the U.S. than in other industrialized nations. At the same time parents tend not to talk to their children in a timely and comprehensive way, leaving a vacuum in which the Media becomes a powerful sex educator and a frequent and compelling sex promoter of sex as fun and risk-free, according to the study.

The study was published in the April issue of 'Pediatrics'.

The study was done in several schools in N. Carolina.

Further studies will include the impact of the internet.

Flight,
The days are nice here. We can get out and do things. I know my life isn't exciting, but from time to time I will have big things to write about.
