You have letters to 1998? I had to stop and laugh.....I'm still laughing.....wait......I can't stop laughing......I have letters from 1968!!!!!!!! Actually, if I ever actually get through all the boxes in the indoor landfill some folks call a basement, I probably could find even older ones........when you actually have something to talk about in terms of holding onto things, I'll send you the association newletter....I'm president!!!!

Symph,
It's a daily process. Sometimes, I can go right back there in a heartbeat, just something sends me back, and I'm feeling the old feelings, just have to focus on the present and the future, which is looking good right now.

No, seriously, I"m thinking I need to do a "mental housekeeping", Symphony,
I'm not going to rush into this, don't need to, since there's room in the storage locker (for now) unless we have to move, but when I read over old journals, they just bring me right back to the past, where I don't want to be. It's probably different for everyone, but I'm seriously thinking of letting them go.

Symphony,
I used to keep letters, but a bunch of my stuff got tossed a couple of years ago, and I realized that I could live pretty well, and probably better without them. I just have one particular friend that I write letters to, I tend to keep his, but other than that, not anymore. I 'm thinking about getting rid of my jouranls, now that would be a big step for me!

And when I do, I put this zit cream on them. I don't like anyone seeing that....I don't walk around naked, though. I walk barefoot and ended up with a sliver or splinter, haha..

I know what you mean, avant-garde
I threw away a birthday card that my sister had made for me ...she died at the age of ten (drunk driver) so sad I never kept it...but I guess you don't think until it is too late.
I am sorry for your loss.

SYMPHONY
I threw away some correspondence from a friend, and to my dismay, she was murdered some years later. What I wouldn't give to still have them.

I am that way about receipts....I have receipts from probably
ten years ago or longer. I can't throw them away. It's not like I would still have electric if I hadn't paid...lol but I keep receipts for everything. I still have Christmas gift receipts from 4 and 5 years ago. Just think of the extra room I would have if I would throw them away. They are kept neatly though in marked boxes and file cabinets. This is an obsession of mine. As for what I do at home I wouldn't want anyone else to see....I will have to think on that one...lol

Symphony....
How many letters are you talking about? I saved all the romantic letters I have gotten over the years from boyfriends and husbands. I even have the love letters my father wrote my mother when they were dating. Those kind of letters I believe we should keep, they are good to read from time to time. As for letters from friends, I throw them out. I think we all have the tendency to be pack rats, you need to nip it in the bud! LOL Take care of yourself sweetie!
