Illegal aliens pose a dilemma
Take the hard line of mass deportations and the rest, and you create enormous political headaches. But do nothing, or extend amnesty to them, and you send the message that our laws are meaningless; indeed, you end up rewarding criminal actions. There truly are no easy answers here, as there usually aren't when a bad situation is ignored for decades.
As for your choice of affiliations, you need to look long and hard at everything else the Democrats stand for before you make such a change. Are you comfortable with a party that attacks our military and its commander in chief in a time of war, that seeks appeasement with terrorists, that wants to raise your taxes wholesale regardless of the damage this will do to the economy, that puts politics over national security, that smears and slanders honorable men and women appointed to high office and judicial positions, and that unswervingly advocates for the rights of criminals over those of victims?

kingmi,
Good post! (Although I don't think this situation compares with that between the early settlers and King George!) I would not agree with the Republican right wing, but neither would I agree with those advocating blanket amnesty. It's a complex problem, which, incidentally, I have commented on in my own blog.

Kingmi - great post!
Best line of the week! Republicans are committing hari-kari. I'm glad you see the immigration "debate" for what it really is, a desperate attempt to keep control of the House and Senate.

kingmi, not to mention the fact that the hispanic population is the fastest
growing at this point in time. They need to be thinking about that and what it will mean to their political futures! These children are legal and will be voting! Great post!
Have a fabulous day, you beautiful man, you!

No, no, no. Please continue to oppress the people of colour. Sooner or later they will get the message and welcome you into their ranks. It will be most entertaining to watch the whites become red...
