Rankings
Blog popularity ranking, as shown on each member profile next to the name of your blog, is based on the number of unique readers each day for the past seven days. We believe this is a useful indicator of the value of a blog, since it benefits blogs that consistently attract readers.
This ranking is the overall ranking out of thousands of blogs on Blogit and not the ranking within a particular category.
"Unique readers" means that no matter how often someone reads a blog, they are only counted once when the rankings are calculated. The purpose is to ensure fair rankings by allowing each person to only "vote" once.
Since the rankings are calculated over seven days, even four days is not necessarily sufficient to change a blog's ranking. The calculation favors consistency over single-day popularity.
Secondly, Most Popular Today is based on the past 24 hours, so it changes rapidly. For instance, say that all of the readers read a certain blog 23 hours ago. After two hours, that blog will not even appear in Most Popular Today, since no one will have read it in the past 24 hours.
We recommend that you update a fewer number of blogs more regularly to get the highest rankings and regular readership.
To view the ranking within a category, please click on the categories on the home page and sort your blog by ranking (rather than name of date last updated) to find a particular blog's ranking within its category.
Thank you.
