I don't see why it would be deemed "too political" ...
And while it may upset some people, I'm not sure what difference that makes. At this point in time, practically anything that anyone writes will undoubtedly upset some group of people somewhere. Therefore, you really mustn't concern yourself with how the poem will be received.
What sorts of publications have you been submitting it to?
