Thanks. I've heard of the the short path and long path as well and wanted to write to it. It fit well with this analogy. And I agree that most of us fall somewhere in between. Thanks for stopping by.

I'm so happy and humbled that I was able to offer you what you needed at that particular time. I know how it feels because I once had someone do the same for me. It's that pass-it-on mentality.

It's actually not so lonely at the top, when we do reach the summit - and we will eventually.

Sannhet, this was a beautiful thing to read. Spirituality, like everything
else, doesn't escape the game of "quicker is better" yet it is never an entirely accurate appraisal to say that any way is "better" than another. The honouring of our own unique needs, time, process etc is very important. Thanks.

Splendid post. I've heard of the short path and long path in Mayahana Buddhism. The short path is contemplation and meditation, and instruction. The long path is making lots of mistakes. I think most people fall somewhere in between.

Just a note to say that this is a nice retelling of this
story, and to thank you again for the great comment you left on my post about guilt.  I know that I thanked you already, but I wanted to let you know that I printed it out and put it on my desk so I can look at it whenever I begin to feel pangs.  I am on my own path.  I don't know anyone else's path.  I can only be there to offer love and support.  My new mantra.  Thank you!!!
