Thanks, glennb,
That's quite vague and ambiguous.  But as I keep on keeping on, maybe somewhere I'll be fortunate enough that something or someone will enlighten me to recognize the distinction I'm apparently missing, as awareness is the first step toward solving any problem.  And I genuinely want to be a part of the solution.  Thanks, for continuing to pique others' awareness on this issue.  Good job on that.  :)

Kiddo75,
That is worth a laugh and more!

Kiddo75,
Maybe ole Howard Dean had something there! Let us join forces with you guys in "the pick-up and gun racks"! At least we know we are different and can defend America when there is a "real" war!

woah there, this kidd didn't vote for him...lol....
and when the VP came for a local visit, one of the funniest things I have ever seen happened on the local news...a white trash local walked by him and just said, "Fuck you, yeah, fuck you"... and he and the others sorta laughed it off.  I thought, "Damn, one of my trashy maybe cousins just walked up to the VP and said, "FUCK YOU" and got away with it.."  lol.. maybe that isn't funny...

Kiddo75,
Thanks for the visit! But you still voted for Bush in the last election! Given the choice I can't say I blame you! but can you still say that Bush has America first after Katrina (protect Americans)! Do you really think the response would have been any more competent??

Hello Glenn! Long time no see! And I see ole Whitey is at it again!
Livin' in Mississippi, I think I get a label stamped on my head about bein' a hillbilly or redneck.  Which I don't care.  I know what I am, or ain't...(maybe that ain't a word, but oh well) I think you'd be real surprised at the way things have changed in this state, though.  The way the war is talked about, the way race and religion is talked about.  It's odd to hear folks talk about us, and then to hear how we talk about each other.  Anyway, thought I'd stop by!

BlackPearle1,
To see the connection you have to recognize the distinction! Thanks for the read!

My goodness,

I submit that we can all stand to learn from each other, if we turn off our selective listening skills, and each really hear what the other is trying to say.  That's usually very difficult when your mind's already made up.  I know that I can be pretty stubborn and closed-minded on many issues, but race and racism are not issues about which I will ever be close-minded or dismissive.  Angry? Often.  Hurt?  Most certainly.  But I'm fortunate that way, I guess, because I'm very familiar with the melting pot that makes up my family:  blacks, whites, native americans, hispanics run all up and through my blood line, and I love and appreciate them all.  But I digress.  Now, about the post:

glennb, you wrote:  Slavery could not have been a profitable institution)? Slavery under the best of circumstances could not have been a wealth builder! Somebody is lying if they say it was!

I find that really interesting because I'd always read/heard/been taught that slavery, i.e., human trafficking is/has always been very big business, perhaps a close second (or maybe a distant cousin) to prostitution.  No matter that it is or isn't, inasmuch as we agree that human traficking is still wrong, but I'd be interested to know where I could do more research on this.  As for the eery similarities to Iraq, I have yet to see those.  Again, perhaps with more research, that will be revealed to me.  Or perhaps, we will be fortunate enough to learn from some histories that we'd rather not repeat.  Anyway, thanks, all,  for such a spirited post and comments, here.  :)

David1Spirit,
Thanks! Agreed "common ground" is compromise not domination!

glennb, touche' on your comment to me

But in the same token, if you happen to see bigotry and racism and "bondage" everywhere, well, that is YOUR problem, not anyone else's. I mean, your argument works both ways, in case in you didn't know.

Like you stated so eloquently, each has to decifer his or her own truth. You happen to see your idea of what "truth" is, and we see ours. Sooner or later the bickering must stop, and some common ground must be reached, by ALL parties involved.

Peace!

Burly,
You are right, I do not know you and thus cannot hate you! But, based on your words and writings here, it can be arranged!

FactorFiction,
I do not understand you premise! I do want George Bush tried for "war Crimes" though! Can you follow me on that?

David1Spirit,
I often wonder if "Whitey" can even understand the English Language! If you see bigotry and racism in my words it is your problem not mine! I am not trying to convince anyone! The "real" facts are before us, each must decifer their own truth!

You're so angry you're going to explode! What or who made you that way? You hate everything white! You don't even know me and you hate me! I don't hate you!!

FOF, that's a great idea

Let's see what Glenn comes up with. Because ranting about something we don't like is one thing, but finding a viable solution is another.

Hey Glenn, it's your turn to deal fella!

So Glennb, what would you have David1Spirit and I DO?

Let's pretend we are entirely at your disposal... (Sorry David, I have drafted you for service.) Now what?

I am curious.

Hurt feelings???? Think again fella!

And what "responsibility" are you yapping about? What am I responsible for?

Working 40-50 hours a week, paying my fair share (and others' share) of my taxes, and obeying the law. And offering my opinion sometimes.

Yes, damn me to hell I guess; I must be guilty of something! Right?

David1Spirit,
Please spare me the hurt feelings! You are as much a part of this insanity as I am! So don't try to avoid the responsibility!

Glennb, you are way off dude, it's not what I wanted to say

I abhor anyone saying the "n" word as much as I abhore anyone calling people "whitey".

They are both wrong, and they know it.

David1Spirit,
Say it damnit!!! You know you want to say it!! Nigger nigger nigger! There I said it for you! Now what?? Thanks for the read and comment! I guess you missed the Post (where  it is said: A "Nigger is a criminal long before he can become a racist"?)

racism equals bondage equals war??? Hmmmmmm................................

Since this post reeks of racism, I wonder if you are planning a war against "..ole Whitey..". Or maybe just his bondage.

Racism is a two-way street you know. The sooner you stop calling people (or any certain person Whitey), maybe it's that much sooner he'll stop calling you certain names, and thinking of you in certain terms.

The only way to get respect is to beget respect! It doesn't work any other way, it just doesn't.
