Welcome, White Jedi!

Thanks for reading and commenting. Sorry, but the Force is not with you on that perspective. You need to read some of my earlier posts and those of other conservatives like Jethro and Corbin Dallas; your issues have been roundly refuted therein.

Scoop, something else it shows is the fraudulence of the issue. I tried looking up when the DPW-owned American company was awarded its contract at Miami, but found nothing.

FW, it has nothing to do with the subject at hand.

Blanche, that's a very interesting take on this. I've not heard racism in opposing the deal linked to preferring the British. Instead, I would think it is in the blanket rejection of DP World as an Arab entity for that reason alone, regardless of whoever else may be involved. (And, thanks for catching the sarcasm!) By the way, you answer the concern that only 5% of containers are inspected; they are the 5% that come from ports where security is an issue.

WriterofLight,
Saying something like, "Oh, no the A-rabs are running are ports, we are doomed" in an openly mocking way does not make it any less of a concern, if you THOUGHT about the implications of that statement.  the supporters of the Dubai Ports deal have said that there is open racism in preferring the British to the United Arab Emirates.  Duh!  When was the last time we were attacked by the British? 1812!  I think they're a pretty safe bet.

There are plenty anti-Bush storeies that aren't getting reported.  Not the least of which is his open disregard of constitutional privacy and embrace of approved torture.  Bush apparently believes law doesn't apply to him because he's somehow above it.  US citizens are being spied on and being held without charges and the media doesn't seem to give a damn.

again you fail to mention that it is the party in power ...
the Red Meat, Red State Republicans, that are leading the bandwagon to block the ports deal.

If they have been operating like this for years, it shows one thing
our intelligence, Homeland Security, is not very good even after 9/11 if they are operating right here under our nose. What else don't we know about?
