Dennison_Mann - now you are giving away your (our) age
I remember the First Edition and was a fan but when Kenny Rogers went solo and started serving up smulch like "You picked a fine time to leave me Lucille" . . .I was all for re-insituting the death penalty for certain crimes against humanity.

kooka_lives -- I am only certain of one thing concerning God
That being; the version of God as found in the bible are the primitive observations and wishful thinking of ancient man.

Well, gomedome, that's the human aspect of it.
We live in a "Put-Down" world. Human beings have a tendancy to look upon what they believe, what they do, what they say as being right and then putting everyone down who believes differently or behaves differently. Where it becomes obnoxious is when we put people down for being themselves. Christians often (not all of them) forget that God can take care of himself. Instead of focusing on our own relationship with God and working on that and on ourselves, we have a tendency to get sidetracked and try to work on everyone else instead.

Of course it is not truly acurate in the use even in that form
I am not foolish enough to out right claim that there is no possibility of God (After all there are unlimited possibilities to the universe and only a true fool does not allow for that), since I do not have the absolute proof. I believe there is no God because to me that makes sense, but I give respect to the belief in God and do say 'it is possible'. So at no point have I said that there is no God, just that I do not believer there is.

TAPS- - that's actually a pretty good answer
and it makes the most sense of anything that I have heard so far . . . except for one little catch. It wasn't I who have taken this phrase out of context. By how you have described it's meaning, every person that has ever used it as a rebuttal in comments or conversation is applying it as a judgement of other people. In effect calling them fools. You suggest that this is not the intention of this phrase which in a roundabout way, I agree with. So why do so many people use it as an insult to others?

The Bible is a personal message to each individual who reads it. When a person reads those words of which you speak from the Holy Scriptures under the guidance and interpretation of the Holy Spirit, understanding comes as it is desired and needed. If one does not take those words out of context as you have done, they will see that the "God" of these words is referring to God as described in the Holy Bible. Basically it is telling me that I am a fool if I read and meditate on the things of God as spoken of in His Word and then decide not to believe it.
