- Go to The Black/Brown Man Has Many Burden?
Take pause my friend.
Glenn, Firstly,I'd like to acknowledge that there are any number of horrors lurking in the past of our nation, and quite likely in the pasts of all nations. But if we collectively carry our anger with us, and refuse to allow for the possibility of slow but sure change toward a better future, we will never achieve anything but more anger and grief. To say the Europeans were oppressive to the existing civilizations when they arrived elsewhere in world is accurate, but to assume that only persons of European decent are guilty of this is grossly untrue. Recent history offers many an opportunity to point fingers in anger; Rwanda (Tutsi against the Hutu), Cambodia (The Kmer Rouge against everyone), former Yugoslavia (Christians against Muslims, Serbs against Croats, et al.), would it not be better to at least attempt to grow beyond our angers so that if nothing else, our children can concentrate on positive growth and cooperation and not be held down by the burdens of their fathers' rage?
I bid you peace and understanding. Arley White

By the way, Glenn, the incoherent babble is on your part, not mine!

I'm sure that any discussion of black success in this country is completely incoherent to you, a racist who sees nothing redeeming about this country or anyone in it! Why don't go to Cuba or Venezuela or try one of the Middle Eastern countries like Iran or why not North Korea? You sound like you'd fit right in there!!

DrJPT,
The journey begins with words! Actions will only come when the pain is "too" great!

Burly,
It is obvious you either did not read or understand the post! I will not allow you to drag me into some incoherent babble about social status in America!

Burden?
I see a lot of black success all around me every day. Oprah, Shaq, Colin Powell, Condoleeza Rice, Barry Bonds, Thomas Sowell, Clarence Page, John Conyers, Terrell Owens! They are all successful in one field or another. Pathology in the black community is largely self-inflicted. Education is scorned as "acting white!" Too many young blacks allow themselves to be influenced negatively by rap music, drug dealers and the "thug" mentality. I agree that color shouldn't matter in our society but to the extent it does is nurtured by too many blacks themselves!

Burden, Problem..... Solution??
Apathy of the masses, along complacency keeps the burden at status quo. Action is required on many levels after the talk.
