Many Eastern Europeans in Omaha who emigrated after WW I.
When I worked ambulance there in the late 70's/early 80's, I would transport little old ladies from nursing homes whon would tell you they were Estonians, Bohemians, Slovaks, even some Volga Deutsch (from before WW I).

fw, the trip was fantabulous, and I am lucky
to find myself in this position at this stage of the game. A Russian professor invited me to Moscow, for another film festival. I met him in Estonia. One thing leads to another.

FLIGHTPATH, the weather was fantastic the entire trip (no storms).
It seemed bitter cold in Paris at first, until I hit Boston which had been in a deep freeze while I was gone.

Blanche, I'm not surprised, you
seem like the kind of person who would be leading an interesting life, and yes the Estonians did all have
names similar to the ones you mentioned. My favorite guys were named Liivo (yes 2 i's) and Taavi (yes 2 a's)

Cynthia,

Say hi to Tallinn for me!  I had a once in a lifetime job straight out of college: I was tour group leader and interpreter (I used to speak Russian, it's a little rusty) for a group of Baltic beef and dairy farmers. We had a whirlwhind tour that I'll never forget with Latvian, Lithuanian and Estonian beef and dairy farmers on the road from New York to Washington DC to Madison, WI, to Nebraska and a feed lot. It was a fun trip.

Anyway, they all seemed to have names like "Turvo", "Veiko" and other non-Russian names.  Have a great time and write many blogs!

Estonia??

Problems flying from Paris to Estonia? I can unserstand. Try getting a straight-through from the west coast to Omaha! Nada!

But then, the only parallels between Omaha and Estonia are the Estonians in Omaha.

Enjoy!!!
