Thank you for commenting!

Dr. J, it was especially striking to see the Democrats who have been so silent about terrorism suddenly getting excited about it when they could use it as an excuse to attack the President. Where has all this fervor been when he does something that actually deals with terrorism?

FW, it should be in there somewhere. But as noted above, the Democrats's opposition was particularly ironic.  Both Republicans and Democrats were wrong in how they handled this.

Arley, the management of the ports was not in question - at least not in the facts of the matter. It was the contracting out of stevedore and container handling services. They are not the same. The issue to me was the complete misrepresentation of the facts in the news media, in Congress and in public opinion. In other words: Very few people who had anything to say about this in the marketplace of public opinion had any idea what the hell they were talking about. A local radio talk show host provided the perfect example in "breaking" the story: "The President is turning six of our ports over to an Arab government! Has he lost his mind?" (emphasis his). Total, complete, absolute, comprehensive, all-encompassing, 100% pure undiluted ignorance on parade. Otherwise, you're spot on. Thanks for sharing your thoughts.

Glenn, do I detect a little of that racist/xenophobic hysteria in your post? Blood dollars? Try oil dollars! But at least you don't hate me anymore.

WriterofLight,

You spin a great big web! A lot of manure not much substance! These "Good" Arabs are swimming in good ole America "Blood" dollars! They have to find a home for it! The Kings or what ever is governing that Nation has already said "nobdy will get hurt financially" no matter which way this deal goes!

Bush just needs a little more time to warm you "good" American to this notion of "good" Arabs! I bet Karen Hughes is working on that right now! I hope she can handle all this "good" that she has to spread over all this doodoo!

Thoughts on the port deal.
Writer, good to see yet another addition to your blog. My thought on this whole port deal boils down to this, the ports of this country belong to the people of this country, and we reserve the right to decide who we want to manage them for us. If, as appears to be the case, the overwhelming consensus is that we don't want the Arabs running our ports, then so be it. The ports are not the property of the Democrats, or the Republicans, or the Liberals, they are the property of the United States and we simply made it clear that we did not want them managed by a firm we felt insecure about. So what's the issue? As always I bid you peace and understanding. Arley White

You Did Mention, that it was the REPUBLICANS ...
who killed the deal, didn't you? The Democrats could not have stopped the deal if they wanted to. It was the GOP congressional members in the House and Senate (facing reelection) who started crying Arab wolf!

I Agree, Yet Many Cannot See it
The Democrats talk a good game and make it appear as though their policies are beneficial to minorities when in fact they keep minorities in a permanent under class status!!  They do not want to see the benefits of No Child Left Behind because it actually is set so that all children will have an equal opportunity based on equity.  There is an ignorance level that many do not discuss that leads to this!  Nice post!
